If you’re just wanting to dine at the eatery we welcome walk-ins. We take bookings via email or phone, we can also send you the details of our fabulous group menu and if you have a special event please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.

You don’t need to bring anything except a big smile and a desire to have fun! We will provide you with all your fishing equipment – a rod, bait and catch net. Since fishing is an outdoor activity we do recommend sunscreen in summer, and warm clothes in winter.

Sorry, but no. We just can’t risk any unwanted organisms entering our eco-system.

Yes you can come down to Hook and order takeaway we don’t take phone orders for takeaway it must be ordered from the restaurant.

You’ll bring it to our fish + fillet station where we weigh your fish. You can then choose if you want to eat it straight away or take it away with you. You can also choose if you want smoked, sashimi, or filleted.

Most of the fish are 1 – 2.5kg, perfect for any angler. The average fish size varies a little throughout the year and we always let you know when you arrive what the current average is.

No! We’re not trying to be the fun police, but if you throw the fish back it’s going to get stressed and it may even die unnecessarily. We don’t want that to happen, and we’re sure you don’t either.

NO!! And…YES!! Hook is a place to be free and have fun. But give us a bit of a hand on the old Health and Safety front please – your children are your responsibility. We’ve done everything we can to make Hook fun and safe but young children must be supervised near the water and when fishing. For those particularly adventurous little darlings we can even lend you a lifejacket which has a leash attached to the back so that you can fully relax knowing they’re not going to take themselves off for an impromptu swim.

Luckily you don’t have to fish to enjoy Hook. We have a licenced eatery, large open spaces for the kids to explore and a growing collection of outdoor games. We’re close to some of the best walking and biking tracks in the area so you can stop in for a coffee as you explore Wanaka by foot or bike.

Our hole-in-one golf challenge is addictive and competitive fun for you and your friends. Can you get a hole-in-one? Come and give it a try.

We also have an epic sandpit and Mini Putt Putt!  More info here

Yup – we have disabled parking, toilets and the fishing lakes have plenty of room to move around.
